Detour

Well, this is not the welcome that I was expecting today:















Joel and I have spent the past 14 hours or so in Hong Kong, and we will be here overnight before leaving for the US in the morning. Fortunately, it was our choice to be here--our flight was overbooked, so the airline offered rebooking, accommodations and compensation if we would stay here, then travel home through Beijing (!) tomorrow. We loved the idea of getting paid to spend time in fascinating places, so here we are! The new plans will put us back home on Thursday evening...I'll post a full report then. Today's highlight: a sighting of the football team Barca, including its star Ronaldinho, in the airport. Tomorrow's highlight: who knows?
